Motorcyclist, passenger ejected, killed in crash on SR 417

Suzuki slams into rear of car in Orange County, FHP says

ORLANDO, Fla. – A 24-year-old motorcyclist and his 21-year-old passenger were killed Thursday night in a crash on State Road 417 in Orange County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened around 8 p.m. on State Road 417 near State Road 528.

The victims have only been identified by troopers as a James Sembower of Casselberry, and Chiane Pridgen, of Ocala.

Officials said a Suzuki motorcycle was heading south on S.R. 417 at a high rate of speed. A Toyota Camry was heading south on the roadway in front of the motorcycle, and a Dodge Ram pickup was also heading south on S.R. 417 behind the other vehicles.

The operator of the motorcycle failed to slow and struck the rear of the Camry, ejecting the operator and passenger of the motorcycle, the FHP said.

Officials said the driver of the pickup was unable to avoid the passenger and ran over her.

Sembower and Pridgen were pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.

The other drivers were not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
