Storms move through Central Florida

Heat index to reach 100 degrees in Orlando area

ORLANDO, Fla. – Severe thunderstorm warnings issued by the National Weather Service for Marion County and Lake County have expired.

A heat wave continues to bake Central Florida, with the heat index reaching 100 degrees.

The alert was issued through 6:45 p.m.

"Radar has showers in western Volusia County all the way to Ocala," Local 6 chief meteorologist Tom Sorrells said. "All the showers are moving west at 5-10 mph."

High temperatures inland will reach 96 degrees, but the "feels like" temperatures will again surge to 100.
