ORLANDO, Fla. – Sunday began in a very un-Central-Florida-like manner -- chilly and windy.
Temperatures in Ocala on Sunday morning reached the low 40s. The rest of Central Florida started in the mid-50s, with the exception of coastal Brevard County, which stayed in the low 60s.
"Lots of sunshine and blue sky for the day ahead," News 6 meteorologist Samara Cokinos said.
High temperatures will range from 74 to 77 degrees. The area is expected to experience continued low humidity and a north-northwest breeze around 5 to 10 mph.
"Coats and jackets and heaters, oh my," News 6 meteorologist Danny Treanor said.
Sunday night will bring clear skies and low temperatures. They are expected to range from 53 degrees in Ocala to 59 degrees in Orlando to 54 degrees in Palm Bay.
Monday is predicted to experience the same weather pattern. The rest of the workweek will see highs in the 80s with rain expected on Thursday and Friday. The weekend will bring another cool down.
Tropical update
Tropical Storm Oscar is predicted to strengthen into a hurricane on Sunday. The forecast track from the National Hurricane Center keeps the storm over the open waters of the Atlantic, declaring it no threat to land.
