Cold front making its way to Central Florida

Front expected to bring some showers to Central Florida

ORLANDO, Fla. – A weak cold front is making its way to Central Florida Sunday and is expected to bring a few showers with it.

"Rain coverage will be at 30 percent, with showers starting over northern areas in the mid-morning Sunday and the rest of Central Florida following in the afternoon," News 6 meteorologist Samara Cokinos said. "Most of the rain will have cleared by the evening."

A small craft advisory is in place for boaters Sunday night until 4 a.m. Tuesday. The winds will be gusting near 20 knots and seas will build to 5-7 feet. 

"High temperatures will stay in the upper 70s Sunday -- around the average in Central Florida for this time of year," Cokinos said.

Temperatures will reach lows in the lower 50s Sunday. Some areas, such as near Ocala, will be colder, with temperatures dropping to the lower 40s. Temperatures near the coast will be in the upper 50s. 

Monday will be rain-free, with temperatures in the mid-70s. The chance of rain will begin to increase again Tuesday.
