Each of the six schools received 'D' ratings in 2017.

The district said it worked closely with the Orange County Classroom Teachers Association to create the incentive, which will recruit and retain effective teachers in schools with the greatest needs.

The FDOE said it will be providing funding for 25 schools statewide, with the award expected by Oct. 1.

The district said if any of the six schools is awarded the grant, an annual supplement of $20,000 will be paid retroactively to the teacher's start date this school year.

The supplement is for the 2017-18 school year only.
