Live hand grenade found on Central Florida road

Exlosive device removed, detonated at separate location

Not the actual grenade found in Orlando.

PALM COAST, Fla. – A bomb squad was forced to detonate a live hand grenade after it was found lying in the middle of a road in Central Florida.

Flagler County deputies received calls about the grenade at the intersection of Palm Coast Parkway and Belle Terre Parkway in Palm Bay around 6 p.m. Tuesday. When they arrived, deputies discovered the grenade was intact and requested the bomb squad from St. Johns County.

When the bomb squad arrived, the team quickly removed the grenade, brought it to an open location and detonated the device.

Flagler County deputies didn't immediately know who owned the grenade or how it ended up in the middle of the intersection.
