Intentionally set fire ignites at Family Dollar store

ORLANDO, Fla. – A fire has ignited at a Family Dollar store in Orange County on Friday afternoon.

Fire officials said at least 40 firefighters responded to the fire that started at around 3:30 p.m. Four employees were inside at the time of the fire, as well as several shoppers.

Orange County Fire Rescue said one person is being treated for smoke inhalation on the scene of the 4,000-square-foot store on Landstar Boulevard near State Road 417.

The State Fire Marshall who is investigating the fire said that the fire is not an arson but was intentionally set by a juvenile under the age of 16.

The juvenile may be referred to the juvenile fire setter intervention program in Orange County.

An employee tells Local 6 that the teen was playing with a lighter and lit a paper towel on fire.

We are also being told that the boy was allowed to go home with his family.

Also, according to the fire Marshall are no sprinklers inside the building. Orange County will now decide if the building was up to code.

Officials said the Family Dollar is a total loss because of damages.
