ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Orange County deputies said they caught a man trying to run after robbing a McDonald's early Saturday.
Deputies said around 3:45 a.m. Saturday they responded to a robbery at the McDonald's at 451 S. Goldenrod Road.
The manager reported the business was just robbed at the drive-thru window by a man dressed in all black wearing gloves and a full face mask, deputies said.
As deputies were setting up the perimeter, witnesses reported seeing the man, later identified as 25-year-old Joshua Aponte, ride his bike from the adjoining Goodyear Tire property, across Goldenrod Road and travel westbound on Lake Underhill Road, officials said.
A deputy spotted Aponte and detained him at Lake Underhill and Capehart Road.
Deputies said Aponte was sweating profusely and they found his bike, bag of money, gloves and jacket behind a green electrical box about 10 feet from where he was detained.
Deputies found his mask on the ground behind the Goodyear Tire building.
Deputies said Aponte approached the drive-thru window wearing the mask and gloves, demanding money implying he had a firearm. The employee complied and gave Aponte an undisclosed amount of cash before he took off.
Deputies said Aponte was arrested and taken to the Orange County Jail.
