Judge hears beach driving arguments

Group hopes to get amendment on ballot in Florida

DeLAND, Fla. – A judge on Monday heard arguments about beach driving in Volusia County.

The judge took the arguments under advisement and will issue a ruling later.

A group is hoping to get an amendment on next year's ballot that would require voters to approve any changes to beach driving, including proposed bans in the works near new luxury hotels.

Lawyers for the county, however, say the county controls the beach, and the proposed amendment would violate the state constitution.

News 6 reporter Mark Lehman will attend the hearing and will provide updates on ClickOrlando.com.
