AAA: Gas prices rise 29 cents in Florida in 20 days

Change due to increased demand, rising oil prices

ORLANDO, Fla. – It's getting more expensive for drivers to fill up their car's gas tanks. According to AAA-The Auto Club Group, gas prices in Florida have jumped 29 cents, in the past 20 days.

AAA estimates the average price for regular gas nationwide is $1.98 a gallon. That's 27 cents higher than this time last month. Here in Florida, the average for a gallon of regular gas is a bit higher at $2.03 a gallon.

Experts say rising oil prices and increased demand are to blame for the increase. Refineries have also began seasonal maintenance, which is reducing the supply of gasoline in the market.

AAA estimates that gas prices will go up another 30 to 50 cents by Memorial Day weekend.
