Thief carjacks BMW, crashes into driveway full of cars

Deputies continue search for thief

A man was carjacked on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies are now looking for the carjacker who took off on foot. Neighbors said they believe he's probably still in the neighborhood.

"There's nowhere to go," one neighbor said. "There's a lake at the end of the street. Thirty-third is over there, and all the police are down there, where's he going to go."

Deputies said it started at a business on South Orange Blossom Trail. The victim was inside the store and came back out to get his wallet. That's when he was greeted with a gun in his face. The man demanded money and took off in his black BMW.

"It looks like it was somebody trying to make some money get some cash, get a car and do a common, if that's a term I can use here, carjacking. He was successful, obviously, and was able to get away," said Jeff Williamson with OCSO.

Deputies spotted the BMW and gave chase until the driver crashed into several cars in a driveway. Neighbors were upset he T-boned an antique car.

"They were at home. They weren't bothering anybody, nothing and all of a sudden this drama came on them," said neighbor John Watson.

"That car has been there a long time, you know what I mean? I believe it was their father or grandfather's car," said neighbor Danavan Forehand.

As deputies went door to door searching for the carjacker, they said a house reeking of marijuana caught their attention, and they moved forward with an unrelated drug bust. We were there as they took a man into custody.

The carjacker is still out there. Deputies said he's between the age of 18 and 20.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the Sheriff's Office.
