Officers find 2 vehicles likely involved

COCOA, Fla. – Police in Cocoa are investigating a shooting Thursday night that appears to be drug-related, officers said.

About 7 p.m., investigators took reports of the shooting, which had happened near Fiske Boulevard and SR 520, according to a news release from the Cocoa Police Department.

When officers went out to learn more, they found a vehicle with a flat tire and bullet holes, police said. A short distance away, near Blake Avenue and SR 520, they found a second car also likely involved in the shooting, investigators said.

An apparent witness told officers that the situation started in a county area west of Cocoa, as an illegal drug transaction was made, according to the release. An argument started, and someone made a threat with a gun, the witness said to police.

The people inside the two vehicles took off and headed east on SR 520. When the vehicles crossed the intersection of Fiske Boulevard, shots were fired, the witness said.
