Semitruck carrying bottled iced tea struck by train in Osceola County, troopers say

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – An Amtrak train struck a Wawa semitruck carrying bottled iced tea Friday evening in Osceola County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The incident happened around 7:10 p.m. near Poinciana Boulevard and Old Tampa Highway.

Troopers said the Wawa semitruck was traveling south on Poinciana Boulevard as an Amtrak train carrying an unknown number of passengers was traveling on the track.

The semitruck driver told troopers he stopped on the track, heard the train coming, but was unable to move the semitruck out the way, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The front of the train struck the trailer portion of the semitruck, troopers said.

The crash remains under investigation. Troopers said charges are pending against the semitruck driver for stopping on the tracks.

No injuries were reported.
