3 teens arrested after Orange County deputy hit with car

Teens spotted near Young Pine Road and Curry Ford Road

ORLANDO, Fla. – Three people have been arrested early Thursday morning in connection with an Orange County deputy who was struck by a car Wednesday evening.

Deputies said the three teens were at spotted at the intersection of Curry Ford Road and Young Pine Road.

The situation started when an off-duty deputy stopped a vehicle deemed suspicious that was stopping at houses in the Woodland Lakes Preserve subdivision.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office said the deputy made contact with the vehicle as two black men were returning to it. As he was positioned on the inside of the open passenger door requesting the driver's license, the driver put the car in reverse and accelerated the vehicle.

The three teens were charged with aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer.

The OCSO said the open door struck the deputy. Three men inside the vehicle then led officials on a brief pursuit before ditching the vehicle near the county landfill at 5901 Young Pine Road in Orlando.

The Sheriff's Office said the deputy was not injured.
