Deputies responded to the home after Martha Cardin's coworker at Florida Hospital East called to report she was uncharacteristically absent from her shift.

Martha Cardin's son, Robert Cardin, 50, was named as a person of interest almost immediately after the deaths. Deputies told the media that he could be driving a black Dodge Journey Crossroad.

Robert Cardin was found days later, on May 19, in  Suffolk County, New York and was arrested on an outstanding warrant related to fraudulent use of a credit card out of Volusia County, authorities said.

Deputies announced Thursday that Cardin was extradited back to Florida and had been served with two first-degree murder warrants.

He's being held at the Volusia County Jail on no bond status and will be brought to the Orange County Jail at a later date.
