Orange County increases DUI checkpoints for holiday weekend

DUI checkpoints increase to avoid drinking and driving

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orange County Sheriff's Office will be increasing the amount of DUI checkpoints around the area as Labor Day weekend approaches.

This year alone, Orange County has reported an increase in drunken driving arrests. There have been 486 arrests in the county in 2013, 49 of them involving persons from 18 to 20 years old.

Orange County deputies advise everyone who will be out on the road this weekend to not drink and drive and utilize alternative methods for getting home from your holiday festivities.

Many cities and counties across the country will also crack down on on drunken drivers over the Labor Day weekend.
