Head-on collision leaves one dead in Daytona accident

Collision occured on U.S. 92

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A head-on collision in Daytona Beach leaves one person dead on Saturday.

The Florida Highway Patrol said that a vehicle driven by a 61-year-old woman was traveling east in the west bound inside lane of U.S. 92  at 10 a.m. Saturday when she struck a car head-on traveling west in the west bound inside lane and was killed.

Troopers did not release the name of the woman pending notification of next of kin. 

The second car, a 2012 Volkswagen Beetle, was driven by Rachael Horne, 33 with her sister, Rebecca Horne, 37, a passenger. Both are from Daytona Beach, troopers said.

Both of the Horne sisters were transported to Halifax Hospital in serious condition. 

The crash is still under investigation.
