Dash camera video from a dump truck, also impacted in the crash, showed Edy Juarez Granados, 46, lost control of his pickup truck while heading north on US-17 and entered the southbound lanes, hitting a 2006 Infiniti, the sheriff’s office said.

Deputies said the Infiniti then struck two other vehicles, including the dump truck. The driver of the Infiniti, 21-year-old Tyler Baysden, died in the crash, and his passenger was taken to the hospital with a broken leg, deputies said. The people in the two other vehicles involved had minor injuries, the sheriff’s office said.

Sheriff’s officials said Juarez Granados took off and was not at the scene of the crash when deputies arrived. When he was located about 24 hours later, deputies said he “admitted to detectives that he was involved in the crash.”

He faces charges of leaving the scene of a crash involving death, leaving the scene of a crash involving injury, leaving the scene of a crash involving property damage and driving without a valid license.
