Man arrested on DUI charges after crashing into golf cart, injuring 2 in Brevard, troopers say

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – A 56-year-old man was arrested on DUI charges Thursday after injuring two people when he crashed into a golf cart in Cocoa, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

According to an FHP arrest report, Norris was traveling west on Curtis Boulevard near Cinema Street when he hit the side of a golf cart that was carrying two people. Norris then drove off, later returning and said he thought he “hit an animal,” FHP said.

A witness told troopers he was heading east on Curtis Boulevard when he saw the wreck. The witness said Norris was “hauling a**” before hitting the golf cart, according to the report. He told troopers he followed Norris to his home and confronted him about the crash.

A trooper asked Norris how much he had to drink and he replied, “a few,” according to FHP. When the trooper said “a few” was a 6-pack, Norris replied that sounded right, according to the report.

The two people in the golf cart, only described as a male and female, were taken to the hospital. Their conditions have not been released.
