Osceola man dies in 5-vehicle crash along I-4

Crash happened west of exit to Thonotosassa Road, troopers said

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – An Osceola County man died Thursday in a five-vehicle crash along Interstate 4 in Hillsborough County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said a van was driving west along Interstate 4 near the exit to Thonotosassa Road around 7:40 a.m.

However, the van failed to stop or slow down for four other vehicles that were slowing or stopping for other traffic, troopers said.

As a result, the van crashed into an SUV, which in turn caused a chain-reaction crash involving three other vehicles, a crash report shows.

The driver of the SUV — a 52-year-old Celebration man — died from his injuries in the crash, troopers said. The driver of the van and the passenger in the SUV also suffered minor injuries, the report states.

No other injuries were reported in the crash. No additional information has been provided at this time.
