Amber Alert canceled for 12-year-old Florida boy

FORT PIERCE, Fla.UPDATE- Leon Scarborough, 12, is safe, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement said in a statement Saturday. Scarborough was the subject of an Amber Alert issued Friday. FDLE recommended that any further inquiries into this matter be brought to the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office.

ORIGINAL- An Amber Alert was issued Friday for a 12-year-old Florida boy last seen in Fort Pierce and who may be with his father.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement said Leon Scarborough was last seen in the 6500 block of Nuevo Lagos in Fort Pierce wearing a dark-colored shirt, dark-colored shorts and yellow Crocs.

The boy has a mole on his left shoulder blade and is known to wear a large silver chain around his neck.

He is described as being 5 feet, 6 inches tall with blonde hair and blue eyes.

Officials said he may be with Tracey Scarborough, 54, who is 6 feet tall and bald with hazel eyes. He lives in Indian River County, according to deputies.

Anyone who sees the two is asked to not approach and call 911 immediately.
