Suspect in Apopka Amber alert now faces sex crime charges
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A man accused of kidnapping an 11-year-old Apopka girl who was at the center of an Amber alert is now back in Orange County facing new sex crime charges, records show. An Amber alert was issued Sept. 26 for a child who was last seen on West Kelly Park Road in Apopka then later canceled when the 11-year-old girl was found with 26-year-old Keith Edward Green Jr. later that night during a traffic stop in Santa Rosa County, according to documents from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. His plan was to say that the girl was his niece and that he had custody of her because her parents died, records show. Green was initially being held at the Santa Rosa County Jail on charges of kidnapping, interference with custody and luring or enticing a child. Documents explaining the newly added charges have not yet been made available.

An Amber Alert for a missing 11-year-old girl from Apopka was canceled on Saturday night after she was found and reported safe, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. Authorities went looking for the 11-year-old girl, who was last seen Saturday afternoon in the area of the 1900 block of West Kelly Park Road in Apopka, authorities said. Madison County sheriff’s officials said deputies were called to the motel around 2 a.m. for a report of a missing child. Deputies said Naomi was last seen sleeping around 12:30 a.m. in one of the motel rooms. Officials said she was with another child who were in the care of a man. Woman waited for 3-year-old’s father to go to work before attempting to take child to Texas, records show
Duarte told Madeline’s father earlier in the week she wanted to take their daughter to Texas but he refused, she told authorities. Madeline’s father left work and called 911 and reported that he believed the 3-year-old mother was taking her. Through a Spanish interpreter, the emotional father told the dispatcher his daughter was outside playing on a bike when she was taken, the 911 call shows. Later in an interview with Apopka police, the father said he believed the suspects were taking his daughter to Texas. He explained to investigators Madeline’s biological mother, Duarte, lives in Houston, Texas and believes she was involved, according to the report.

Mother, boyfriend at center of Apopka Amber Alert booked into Orange County Jail
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – The couple at the center of an Amber Alert for a 3-year-old Apopka girl was transferred Thursday from Leon County to Orange County to face charges. Officers said Madeline Meija was taken Monday morning without force by her biological mother Tania Duarte, 19, and her mothers’ boyfriend Kevin Smith Olmedo-Velis, 19. Both 19-year-old suspects were booked into the Orange County Jail Thursday at 2:50 p.m.Police said Madeline’s father mislead officers at first, saying his daughter abducted by strangers from the front yard. Investigators said Lester Mejia was contacted by a relative while at work and informed him Duarte had taken the child. Officers said Mejia called 911 but authorities said Mejia was allegedly told by an unknown dispatcher there was no crime if the mother has the child.

FBI joins search for missing baby after deaths of 3 women
MIAMI – The FBI has joined the search for a newborn baby who disappeared after his mother, grandmother and great-grandmother were fatally shot in South Florida, official said. FBI spokesman Michael Leverock confirmed the agency is assisting in the case, the Miami Herald reported Monday. Andrew Caballeiro was a week old when his father, Ernesto Caballeiro, 49, kidnapped him last month, Miami-Dade police said. Newborn at center of Amber Alert still missing after man found dead in Florida
MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – The man at the center of an Amber Alert issued for an infant Tuesday was found dead a day after three women were found shot to death inside a South Florida home, according to authorities in Pasco County. Police said Andrew was believed to be with his 49-year-old father, who police identified as Ernesto Caballeiro, according to News 6 partner WPLG-TV in Miami. Ernesto Caballeiro was later found dead Wednesday afternoon in Pasco County but the infant remains missing, according to the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office. Pasco County Sheriff’s Office deputies said they found the van in a rural area near Blanton with a man, matching Ernesto Caballeiro’s description, dead inside the vehicle. Miami-Dade County property records show Ernesto Caballeiro has owned the four-bedroom home, at 21981 SW 187 Ave., since 2005.

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – The Florida Department of Law Enforcement said an Amber Alert has been canceled after a teen who was believed to be missing was found safe in Kissimmee. The Amber Alert was issued at about 9 p.m. Thursday and canceled two hours later. Kissimmee police said that during an investigation into a possible kidnapping of a juvenile, an Amber Alert was sent concerning 15-year-old Kamelia Isaac. Isaac returned home unharmed about two hours after the alert went out and police said they determined that no crime occurred.
