Second victim of Lockhart Christmas Eve shooting dies, deputies say

Shooting occurred in 2800 block of Sudman Way

LOCKHART, Fla. – Deputies announced that a second victim of the Christmas Eve shooting in Lockhart that also injured three others has died.

In addition, officials released the names of the two victims who were killed in the shooting.

According to a news release, 25-year-old Stephanie Diane Cortes died at the scene, and deputies said on Tuesday that 21-year-old Torrance Jermaine Stover Jr. “has since succumbed to their injuries.”

Orange County deputies said they responded around 2:23 a.m. to the 2800 block of Sudman Way, reporting Cortes died at the scene after being shot.

Three other men also suffered gunshot wounds and were hospitalized “in various conditions ranging from stable to critical,” deputies said.

Investigators believe the shooting was targeted and were said to still be “sorting out” whether any of the people who were shot are suspects in the case at the time of this report, as well as if anyone is outstanding, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies said the shooting remains under investigation.
