Officers were called that day regarding gunshots and a white SUV stuck on a parking block at Metro Place Apartments when they found the teen victim. Smith was taken to a hospital where he later died, police said.

Burgess’ arrest Friday follows that of 17-year-old Trayvon Randell Jackson, who was taken into custody Jan. 3. He faces charges of second-degree murder and principal in first-degree armed robbery with a firearm in Smith’s death.

A court filing dated Jan. 25, showed Burgess was transferred from the juvenile detention center to the Orange County Jail.

The Orlando Police Department is still investigating and has asked anyone with information related to the incident to contact its Homicide Unit, or to call Crimeline at 800-423-8477 to remain anonymous.
