MIAMI, Fla. – A Florida man was arrested earlier this month after he took off with a binder of valuable Pokémon trading cards, according to the Miami Police Department.

In an arrest affidavit, police said that the man — Jasiel Manfarrol, 33 — entered a hobby store in the area called “Pro Play Games” on May 6.

Manfarrol asked the store’s owner about his Pokémon cards, prompting the owner to bring out a binder of around 3,000 cards valued at $30,000, police added.

At that point, Manfarrol grabbed the entire binder and left the store without paying, the affidavit shows.

However, Manfarrol was then confronted by several other patrons at the shopping center, along with the store owner and another man, investigators explained. They were able to recover the binder from Manfarrol.

While Manfarrol attempted to flee, the other man tried to stop him, causing Manfarrol to brandish a pair of pliers and make several stabbing motions in his direction, the affidavit says.

Manfarrol reportedly stated, “Te voy a pinchar,” which translates to “I’m going to stab you.”

After the other man backed off, Manfarrol ran toward the back of the shopping center, where he was ultimately taken into custody by an officer, detectives said.

Manfarrol faces charges of aggravated assault, grand theft, and armed robbery. He is held on no bond.
