Man faces life in prison in shooting of 2 Bethune-Cookman University students William Phillips, 33, found guilty
VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – A man faces a life sentence after being found guilty in the shooting of two Bethune-Cookman University students.
A jury on Thursday convicted 33-year-old William Phillips in the March 2023 shooting.
Prosecutors said Phillips confronted the victims on campus after a fight at a The Joint bar on Seabreeze Boulevard then shot up their car near Joe Harris Park.
One of the victims ended up paralyzed from the waist down and the other recovered.
He is set to be sentenced on Aug. 8.
