ORLANDO, Fla. – Addressing reporters at SEC Football Media Days, new Florida Gators Head Coach Jon Sumrall says his expectation in year one is to “win every time we play.” He qualified that expectation by saying the team has “a freakin’ long way to go.” He says the Gators must not waste one day of practice or rep from now until the September 5th season opener. The team leaders representing Florida at SEC Media Days say the team is ready for the challenge.
Linebacker Myles Graham tells reporters, “I think our job is to go 100%, and whenever they say go, we gotta go. We gotta compete. We gotta get better. We gotta push each other. We gotta strain.”
“The fire is definitely spread throughout the team,” says star running back Jaden Baugh.
Judging from the players’ comments at Media Days, Sumrall and the new staff have won the buy-in from his football team.
“Having those coaches that you know love you and it makes you want to play harder for not only them but for the team and the program as well,” says wide receiver and Jones HS alum Vernell Brown III.
The Florida Gators kick off the season Sept. 5 at the Swamp against FAU.
