SEC threatens fans with ejection for wearing shirts joking about Brandon Miller's role in fatal shooting
The Brandon Miller situation at Alabama has laid bare some of the uglier aspects of college sports culture, and they came in loud and clear at the SEC men's basketball tournament. With Miller still playing despite delivering a gun used in a fatal shooting earlier this year, the Crimson Tide advanced to the finals with a 72-61 win over Missouri on Saturday. In attendance was a man wearing an Alabama-themed shirt reading "GOATS" on the front and "Killin' our way through the SEC in '23" on the back. The SEC fan ticket policy states that tickets are revocable if "user is disruptive, endangers others or uses vulgar, threatening or demeaning language." The SEC can't have it both ways when it comes to Brandon Miller
The SEC announced its men's basketball player and freshman of the week as usual on Monday. Snubbed was embattled Alabama freshman Brandon Miller despite tallying more points than either Tshiebwe or Smith. What's next for SEC football scheduling with Oklahoma, Texas officially joining in 2024?
With Oklahoma and Texas officially joining the SEC ahead in 2024, the future of the SEC's football scheduling is beginning to come into picture. As the conference swells to 16 members, the need for an updating scheduling format is obvious. Whether it’s eight or nine, Sankey said a main focus is making sure teams play one another more frequently. Oklahoma and Texas to leave Big 12 for SEC in 2024
Oklahoma and Texas are joining the SEC in 2024. The Big 12 announced Thursday evening that the two schools would leave for the SEC a year earlier than scheduled. The announcement comes a week after reports that it was “unlikely” Oklahoma and Texas would be leaving the conference before 2025. “As I have consistently stated, the Conference would only agree to an early withdrawal if it was in our best interest for Oklahoma and Texas to depart prior to June 30, 2025,” Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark said in a statement. Report: Oklahoma and Texas 'unlikely' to leave Big 12 for SEC before 2025
According to ESPN, Texas and Oklahoma have been unable to come to an agreement to leave the conference for the SEC before the 2025 season and are "unlikely" to leave before then. That means the two teams would be Big 12 members for the next two football seasons before the SEC expands to 16 teams. Sources: The effort for Oklahoma and Texas to leave the Big 12 a year early and join the SEC in 2024 has stalled and at this point is unlikely to come to fruition. Now that early departure possibility looks over just days after the Big 12 announced its 2023 football schedule. “I would like to thank our fans for their patience awaiting this historic schedule,” Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark said in a statement on Monday.wftv.com
