Semi crashes, takes out heavy sign on State Road 408

ORLANDO, Fla. – Orlando police are investigating an early morning crash on State Road 408 that had shut down the road most of the morning and into the early afternoon.

Police said a semi tractor trailer crashed at State Road 408 at Tampa Avenue around 7:51 a.m. Sunday.

Police said the semi crashed into a heavy traffic sign, causing it to collapse on the road.

Police said all of the lanes of 408 were shut down while crews removed the truck and collapsed sign.

The driver of the semi was transported to the hospital with minor injuries, police said.

Part of State Road 408 finally re-opened at 1:30 p.m. allowing eastbound traffic to move through.

Just after 2 p.m. all westbound lanes opened to traffic.
