Man falls 3 stories while possibly doing parkour in Cocoa, police say

Victim airlifted to Holmes Regional Hospital

COCOA, Fla. – A man fell to the ground from a three-story building in Cocoa over the weekend while apparently doing parkour, which includes jumping from building to building.

The victim, whose name and age have not been released, suffered a possible head and other injuries and was airlifted to Holmes Regional Hospital, Cocoa police said. The victim was conscious when first responders arrived, officials said.

Authorities said officers were called Saturday night to 100 Harrison Street in reference to a person falling from a building.

Witnesses told police that they saw three men or teens on top of the building several minutes before the victim fell to the ground, according to officials.

An investigation determined that the trio was possibly involved in parkour, a discipline that was developed from military training in which users get from one point to the next without equipment. Parkour includes running, jumping, climbing, swinging and other movements.

Witnesses did not see the victim jump from building to building, police said.

The trio gained access to the top of the building by a ladder, officials said.

No other details have been released.
