Plane lands, flips over on runway at Merritt Island Airport

MERRITT ISLAND, Fla. – A small, flipped-over aircraft landed at the Merritt Island Airport Wednesday afternoon. 

"Brevard County Fire Rescue crews are at the site of a small aircraft that apparently flipped over near the runway of the Merritt Island Airport.The pilot, the sole occupant of the aircraft, was not injured and refused further treatment," according to Florida Today.

At 10:45 Wednesday morning, the aircraft had a landing gear problem and was seen circling around the Merritt Island Airport, at 900 Airport Road, in an effort to burn fuel, which pilots usually do in emergency landings.

Now that it has landed, crews are assessing the situation.
