Second depression forms on State Road 429

Traffic being diverted into toll lanes, shoulder

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – There's a traffic alert for thousands of drivers in Orange County. For the second time in just weeks, a depression in the road has part of State Road 429 closed.

The most recent problem is in the southbound lanes, right at the New Independence toll plaza.

Officials with the Expressway Authority say there is a 20-foot depression in the road.

As a precaution, all traffic is being re-routed into the cash lanes.

The depression at the toll plaza comes just three weeks after another hole opened on the highway about 20 miles north, near Kelly Park Road.

Traffic is still being diverted onto the shoulder along that part of the highway while the road is being repaired.
