Central Florida student took gun to school, officials say

16-year-old faces several charges in Lake County

EUSTIS, Fla. – A 16-year-old is facing several gun charges after deputies say he brought a loaded handgun and shotgun shells to his charter school.

The incident happened at Alee Academy in Eustis.

Deputies say school workers found the gun Wednesday morning during their regular backpack checks. Students at Alee Academy get their bags searched daily.

The teen told deputies the gun did not belong to him and someone else put it there, but deputies still charged him.

In the arrest report, deputies noted the teen had been in a fist fight last week with other students and posted a video online about wanting to fight them again.
