Teen critically injured in accidental shooting, Brevard deputies say

COCOA, Fla. – Authorities were investigating after a teenager was critically injured in a shooting Sunday afternoon, the Brevard County Sheriff's Office said.

Deputies said the shooting took place around 10:20 a.m. at a home on South Ridgewood Drive as a family member was showing another family member a recently purchased gun when it fired.

The teenage victim, who was not immediately identified, was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition, deputies said.

Deputies said the shooting remains under investigation.
