‘Extremely busy’ season still underway 🚨
Hey Insiders, it’s Chief Meteorologist Candace Campos. Hurricane Debby marks the fourth named storm of the 2024 Atlantic hurricane season. But it’s a stark reminder of how much more of the season we have left.
The beginning of August means we’re one-third of the way through the hurricane season and usually, 90% of named storms form after this date.
One of the tropical activity forecasts comes from the Colorado State University meteorologists.
Their most recent update, from early August, continues to predict an “extremely active Atlantic hurricane season for 2024″ and slightly increases their previous forecast numbers.
Atlantic flipping the switch 🌀
We’ve been discussing this for a while, and it looks like it’s starting to happen. I’m meteorologist Jonathan Kegges here breaking it all down.
The National Hurricane Center pointed out a new area in the Central Atlantic on Thursday, which could be the beginning of increased activity coming from the African continent.
