No plans yet to correct Oakland-Tildenville Cemetery flooding
OAKLAND, Fla. โ Board members that oversee the Oakland-Tildenville Cemetery said thereโs no plan of action yet on how the flooding situation will be rectified. He was born in Oakland and has laid several family members to rest at the Oakland-Tildenville Cemetery. Things looked a lot different than it did a week ago at the Oakland-Tildenville cemetery. He and several other families said flooding wasnโt an issue until Pulte Homes built the new Longleaf townhome development next door. While Pulte isnโt taking the blame, the company has been pumping water out of the cemetery almost daily since last week.

OAKLAND, Fla. โ A historic Oakland cemetery flooded after a rainstorm overnight into Monday morning brought at least 4 inches of rain. Aerial views of the Oakland-Tildenville Cemetery off State Road 50 shows gravestones completely or partially submerged in water. According to Oakland officials, the town recorded 4.14 inches of rainfall Sunday night, including 3 inches between 8 and 9 p.m. โDue to the serious and sensitive nature of this flooding issue, the Town has called upon the developer to swiftly work on a permanent solution. Editorโs note: The story originally stated the flooding occurred at Oaklandโs historic African American cemetery at 16798 W. Colonial Drive but the cemetery was unaffected.
