SANFORD, Fla. – A 29-year-old DeLand woman was killed and two children were injured early Thursday in a double rollover crash on Interstate 4 in Seminole County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The FHP said Kiley Fontaine died in the crash, which was reported at 12:20 a.m. on I-4 east near the State Road 417 Exit in Sanford.
According to troopers, Fontaine was driving a 2018 Toyota when she failed to slow and struck a 2006 Nissan driven by a 20-year-old Deltona man. Both cars overturned after the crash, the FHP said.
Fontaine was pronounced dead at the scene, the FHP said. Two children in her car were taken to Arnold Palmer Hospital in Orlando with non-life-threatening injuries, troopers said. It's not known if Fontaine was related to the children.
The driver of the Nissan suffered minor injuries and was taken to Central Florida Regional Hospital, the FHP said.
It's not know if alcohol played a role in the crash, according to the FHP.
All eastbound lanes of I-4 were closed in the area, causing a major traffic jam. The interstate reopened about 7.5 hours after the wreck.
