The woman, 47, was driving south on CR-470 when the vehicle behind her, driven by a 17-year-old Lake Panasoffkee girl, attempted to overtake and pass her, the FHP said.

After the 17-year-old reentered southbound lanes of CR-470 ahead of the woman, troopers said the teen collided with the rear of a pickup truck that was stopped at the intersection of CR-487, propelling it forward to also collide with a stopped van.

The woman collided with the rear of the teen’s car and suffered serious injuries. She was taken to a nearby hospital where she later died, troopers said.

The teen suffered minor injuries, as did the passenger of the pickup truck and the driver of the van, according to the FHP.
