Bicyclist killed in Osceola County crash, FHP says

Crash occurred on South Orange Blossom Trail at Mary Louis Lane

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – A man riding a bicycle was struck and killed late Thursday night in Osceola County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred at 11:20 p.m. when the man was crossing Orange Blossom Trail at Mary Louis Lane as two cars were heading south in the middle lane of Orange Blossom trail, troopers said.

The 47-year-old Brooksville man was riding the bicycle across the southbound lanes when the car furthest ahead on Orange Blossom Trail swerved to avoid him, according to a crash report.

The second car — driven by a 17-year-old Kissimmee boy who was uninjured in the crash — struck the man, who was later pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.

FHP is still investigating the fatal crash.

No other details have been disclosed.
