The FHP said the teen was driving at a high rate of speed when his car’s left tire “sustained a failure,” causing him to lose control of the vehicle.

According to troopers, the car veered off the road, prompting the teen to overcorrect. The car then traveled across SE 58th Avenue and onto a grass shoulder before colliding with a wooden fence, the FHP said.

According to an FHP crash report, the teen was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the car.

The teen was taken to HCA Ocala in Marion County, where he was pronounced dead, the FHP said.

A 24-year-old Wildwood man who was a passenger in the car suffered minor injuries, according to troopers.
