Driver dies in fiery crash with bridge support in Orange County, FHP says

Crash occurred on S.R. 520 at S.R. 528

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A driver died early Saturday after an SUV they crashed into a bridge support in Orange County became engulfed in flames, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 2:58 a.m. on State Road 520 at State Road 528, troopers said.

According to an FHP crash report, the SUV was traveling north on S.R. 520, south of S.R. 528 in the inside lane, when it traveled off the roadway left and into the grass median. There, it struck a concrete bridge support and caught fire, the report states.

The driver — whose identity is pending an update from the medical examiner’s office — was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.

FHP is still investigating.
