Another cold night ahead in Central Florida

'Feels like' temperatures below freezing north of Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla. – After a spectacular day filled with cool air and sunshine, the cold will settle in Wednesday night in Central Florida.

The overnight low in Orlando is set to drop to 36 degrees, well below normal,  but not cold enough to snag the record of 34 set back in 1936.

The low in Ocala will drop to 33, in Daytona Beach will dip down to 40 and the low will be 36 in The Villages.

It will cold enough for patchy frost, but no frost records are expected to be reached.

As temperatures across Central Florida dip, shelters in the region are opening their doors to anyone who needs a warm place to sleep for the night. See a full list here.

The record low for Daytona Beach Wednesday night is 32. In Sanford, the record is also 32 from 1950 and the record low for Melbourne is 30 from 1966.

The National Weather Service in Melbourne issued a fire weather watch for Wednesday afternoon. The watch covers inland Volusia County, along with Lake, Orange, Seminole, Osceola and northern Brevard counties.
