Motorcyclist killed in Winter Park crash identified

Witnesses say motorcycle was traveling at 100 mph before wreck

WINTER PARK, Fla. – A 26-year-old motorcyclist was killed in Orange County on Sunday night when he crashed into a vehicle that turned into his path, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Charles David Rigsbee, of Casselberry, died in the crash, which occurred around 10 p.m. on Howell Branch Road near Dike Drive in Winter Park, the FHP said.

According to troopers, a Volkswagen GTI driven by 26-year-old Jennifer Leung, of Orlando, turned into the path of Rigsbee, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Charges are pending against Leung, who suffered minor injuries in the crash, troopers said.

Witnesses say Rigsbee was traveling around 100 mph prior to the crash, but the FHP said it's investigating whether speed played a role in the crash.

"I heard the motorcycle revving up and heard a smash into the side of the car.  I ran up the street and when I got here, the motorcycle was fully engulfed (in flames)," said a man who lives nearby.
