Whitehair Bridge over St. John's River shut down after malfunction

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – A bridge connecting Lake and Volusia counties was shut down Thursday afternoon after it malfunctioned, county officials said.

The Whitehair Bridge at State Road 44 connects drivers over St. John's River.

The Lake County Sheriff's office said SR 44 was shut down until further notice and drivers were instructed to use alternate routes.
