ORLANDO, Fla. – Memorial Day is observed on the last Monday of May, honoring the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military.

It became an official federal holiday in 1971, but was originally known as Decoration Day in the years following the Civil War.

Apopka

Memorial Day Remembrance – Edgewood/Greenwood Cemetery

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10147 and the City of Apopka hosts the Memorial Day Remembrance on Monday, May 29 at 11 a.m. as they honor the lives and legacy of our fallen military heroes at the Veterans Memorial.

DeLand

Memorial Day event – Bill Dreggors Park

All area veterans and community members are invited to attend the Memorial Day ceremony that will be held at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 29 in the veterans park and gardens area of the facility at the Veterans Pavilion in Bill Dreggors Park, located at 230 North Stone Street in DeLand.

Cocoa

18th Annual Memorial Day Parade and Tribute – Riverfront Park

Come out to Riverfront Park in Cocoa Village for the annual Memorial Day Celebration on Monday, May 29. Parade begins at 4 p.m. The city will take time to honor the fallen veterans of war with a Guest Speaker, special Flag folding ceremony, 21-gun salute, the playing of taps, a moment of silence, entertainment and much more.

Flagler County

Memorial Day Ceremony – Heroes Memorial Park

The City of Palm Coast will host a Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, May 29 to remember the men and women who gave their lives in service to the U.S. military. The ceremony begins at 8 a.m. at Heroes Memorial Park in Palm Coast.

New Smyrna Beach

Memorial Day 2023

All are cordially invited to join the City of New Smyrna Beach and VFW Post 4250 on Monday, May 29 for a solemn Memorial Day ceremony as we honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. Ceremony begins at 11 a.m. along the waterfront outside the Brannon Center located at 105 S. Riverside Drive.

Orange County

War Memorial Commemoration Ceremony

The Orange County War Memorial Commemoration Ceremony will honor members of the armed forces in Orange County who ultimately sacrificed their lives while serving their country. The program begins at 8:45 a.m. on Monday, May 29 at the Orange County Courthouse, Jury Room 180.

Port Orange

Annual Memorial Day Ceremony

The City of Port Orange will hold the annual Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, May 29 at 10 a.m. located at Veterans Park in City Center. The VFW Post 3282 will host the ceremony, which will feature a display of colors, speeches and a 21-gun salute.

Sanford

Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony – Veterans Memorial Park

Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony on Monday, May 29 begins at 9 a.m. with Seminole State College’s Brass Quintet presenting a Memorial Day tribute. At 10 a.m., the City of Sanford’s Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony begins in Veterans Memorial Park.

Winter Park

Memorial Day Celebration - Glen Haven Memorial Park

This event is Monday, May 29 at the Glen Haven Memorial Park located in Winter Park and begins at 11 a.m.
