For the second month in a row, tourist tax collections are down in Orange County.
The latest numbers show the county took in over $26 million in bed tax money in May.
That’s down nearly 7% from May 2022.
County Comptroller Phil Diamond though said there are a lot of factors at play including a cooling off of the post-pandemic travel surge.
“A lot of people really wanted to travel and really wanted to go on vacation after the pandemic and they did,” Diamond said. “But you know no family can afford to go on vacation month after month after month.”
Diamond said the ongoing controversy over several new Florida laws could also be impacting tourism but believes the numbers will stay close to normal for the rest of the year.

Miami is home to the World Erotic Art Museum.
It’s a collection of erotic art in South Beach.
The late Naomi Wilzig founded the museum at the request of her son to purchase some “conversation pieces” for his bachelor’s apartment.
She collected erotic art from Roman times to modern and opened the museum in 2006.
The museum is open for those 18 and older and visitors are able to browse 20 rooms filled with over 12,000 square feet of artwork.
