BAY LAKE, Fla. – Disney’s Animal Kingdom is set to permanently close its daytime show “Disney KiteTails” at the end of the month, Walt Disney World said.

The show at Discovery River Theater first debuted last October as part of the World’s Most Magical Celebration. During the show, guests get to see elaborate, three-dimensional kites of Simba, Zazu, King Louie, Baloo and so many more as they take flight. Some of the kites are described as being 20, to even 30 feet in length.

According to Walt Disney World’s website, guests are urged to enjoy the show until its last offering on Sept. 30.

Earlier this summer, the show received some minor changes which included shorter and more frequent performances throughout the day.

With the show ending, this will leave Disney’s Animal Kingdom without a daytime or nighttime show at the Discovery River Theater. The former nighttime show, Rivers of Light, ended its run in 2020. No word on what could be coming in the future.
