UCF defensive coordinator Randy Shannon is reported to be the interim head coach in the meantime. “Coach Heupel has compiled an impressive record, and I think Vols fans can look forward to a bright and exciting future,” Plowman said. UCF hired White in November 2015, and his first job then was hiring a football coach. Scott Frost left for Nebraska after going 13-0 in 2017, then White hired Josh Heupel. White, whose father Kevin is Duke's AD, has Southeastern Conference experience as senior associate athletics director at Mississippi between 2009-2012. He was associate athletics director for development at California State-Fresno from 2007 to 2009 and a year before that as assistant athletics director for development at Northern Illinois.

UCF Athletics Director Danny White has been named the athletics director for the Tennessee Volunteers, both schools have confirmed. UCF said in a Thursday news release that it will immediately begin a national search for a new vice president and director of athletics following White’s departure. When White first joined UCF in 2015, former UCF head coach George O’Leary had just resigned as the head coach and the interim athletics director. White was hired as the vice president and director of athletics in November 2015 and was expected to quickly find a head football coach. UCF Director of Athletics Danny White provided insight in a letter to Knight Nation as to how the UCF Athletics mitigated a projected $15 million loss due to COVID-19, and budgeted to an approximate $5 million shortfall. White said UCF Athletics is projecting a $12.7 million loss in revenue — and approximately $2 million in increased COVID-19 related expenses — for a total loss of approximately $14.7 million. White provided a breakdown of UCF Athletics’ approach for mitigating the nearly $15 million loss to a about a $5 million deficit. White said UCF Athletics worked with every sport and administrative unit to cut 10% from projected fiscal year 2021 budgets. No Knight Walk at UCF home opener as school announces safety measures

The tradition allows fans to cheer on UCF players as the team steps off the bus and head toward the stadium. On Tuesday, the school announced safety measures to be put in place. Fans will not be allowed to move from zone to zone during the game, each area will have adequate restrooms and concessions, according to UCF. Knight Walk, Tailgate Concert Series, March to Victory and the Kids Zone will not take place this season.

Bounce House: UCF changes name of football stadium
ORLANDO, Fla. UCFs football stadium has been known as the Bounce House for years. White said the stadium, at some point, could have another sponsor name, but for not, its the Bounce House. The stadium underwent an $8 million renovation following the 2014 season. The Bounce House was the home of the Orlando Apollos in 2019, the only -- and partial -- season of the Alliance of American Football.

It marks the first time in school history that UCF has sold its entire season-ticket allotment. Lake Mary family makes record $13 million commitment to UCF
ORLANDO, Fla. - UCF Athletics received the largest gift commitment in the department's history Wednesday, according to the University of Central Florida. Gary and Barbara Bryant, of Lake Mary, made a commitment of $13 million last month. Once funded, their gift will establish the Gary and Barbara Family Athletic Endowed Scholarship Fund.
