One viral post is making its rounds outlining why lawmakers should proceed with impeachment. “I think one of the sources of confusion surrounds the word impeachment,” University of Miami Law professor Carolina Mala Corbin said. She elaborated that impeachment is a two-step process, with impeachment being the first step. “The U.S. Constitution impeachment clauses do contemplate barring the president from holding office in the future,” Corbin said, addressing one of the claims made in the viral post. “Basically, these benefits are not available to someone whose office has been terminated by impeachment and removal,” Corbin said.

White House announces additional support for Puerto Rico following natural disasters

ORLANDO, Fla. – Puerto Rico is expected to receive additional federal funding to support efforts to rebuild some of its infrastructures following recent natural disasters. The funds are meant to support the people of Puerto Rico and restore the U.S. territory’s infrastructure. The storm made landfall as a category five storm in 2017, killing more than 3,000 people. The island also dealt with heavy flooding and power outages after Hurricane Isais pummeled Puerto Rico on July 30.
