Man found in Volusia County road with fatal injuries was struck by 2 vehicles, FHP says

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – A 48-year-old Osteen man was found fatally injured in a Volusia County roadway early Sunday morning after a driver ran him over, and the Florida Highway Patrol wants to know more about a different car troopers believe struck the man first.

The crash occurred at 3:40 a.m. as a 58-year-old DeBary man driving east on Lemon Bluff Road encountered the man lying in the eastbound lane, swerving to avoid him yet striking him with the front of his car near State Route 415, according to a crash report.

Troopers said they determined the man had been struck prior to the 3:40 a.m. crash and was lying in the roadway as a result. The time of the first crash and the vehicle involved were unknown at the time of this report.

The crash is still being investigated. Anyone with information about the first collision was urged to contact Crimeline, or FHP at 407-737-2213.
